Importance of Gauseva

Dear friends,

Radhe Radhe! Jai Shree Krushna. Lord Krushna, through his leela, left an example for all to follow - to protect, shelter and infact worship mother cow. In this age of kali, devotees must come forward to continue the good work. While protecting all animals is duty of mankind (atleast not harming them unnecessarily certainly should be), mother cow is one of the most innocent of them, very kind, and bestower of blessings. She gives us the nectar of milk in this material world. While this fact itself should be sufficient for all of us to serve cows, here are more reasons, taken from Tulsi Triveni, which highlight the importance and benefits of serving cows.

  1. One who serves cows can never be poor.
  2. One who serves cows will never encounter untimely death.
  3. As the fruit of serving cows, one will attain 'Gopal'.
  4. There is constant happiness, peace and prosperity in the family of one who serves cows.
  5. After death, only cow helps one cross the Vaitarani* .
  6. The importance of donating a Kapila cow is thousand times more.
  7. Lord Shree Krushna came to be known as 'Gopal ' because he used to serve cows barefoot.
  8. Donating cows gives peace and salvation to the ancestors.
  9. The children of one who serves cows do not suffer from illness.
  10. Param Pujya Gurudev served cows walking barefoot on snow in foreign country.
  11. The importance of serving the Guru's cows is thousand times more.
  12. One can attain Goloka through cow donation.

* According to Mahabharata, Vaitarani is a horrible river marking the boundary of Yama's kingdom. In the event that the soul goes to hell, it must cross the river holding onto a cow's tail.
